Endurance challenge provides big boost to charity

£6000 has been raised by IM Properties’ UK development director following a fantastic feat of endurance for a local charity working with young people.

Kevin Ashfield took on the “David Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge – running 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours! He joined a whole host of runners across the world who shared a common goal of promoting physical and mental health whilst supporting charities.

He raised the money for Sutton Coldfield based charity, The Gap*, which assists excluded and marginalised young people by helping them develop their skills and abilities irrespective of their circumstances, backgrounds, or situations, for them to participate in society as mature, responsible adults.

Kevin Ashfield said: “I was keen to support an organisation that helps young people particularly with their mental health given how tough life can be for children and especially in the current climate.

“I was aware of The Gap* from a previous £2000 grant donated to them for their Headspace project from our Peddimore Community Fund, which was set up as part of an extensive Social Value programme to support community groups surrounding our new Birmingham scheme.”

The headspace project aims to assist young people between the ages of 11 to 22 who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health and wellbeing as they transition into adulthood.

Kevin continued: “Everyone at IM Properties really got behind the fundraising and helped me achieve the challenge through virtual runs and messages of support. It was a real life-changing experience and exceeded all my expectations, raising way above my target.

“IM Properties then stepped in and rounded up the money raised to £6000. I’m so pleased for The Gap* and was delighted to visit them and see how the money supports young people.”

Zabrina Wolfe, manager and Headspace coordinator added: “We are so taken aback by the amount donated and the support given by all of the IM Properties’ team. Kevin is a real inspiration.

“What has been even more significant is following the awareness raised by Kevin, we’ve had a couple of people from IM Properties offer to volunteer and help us continue to deliver our vital services in the local area.”
