IM Properties exchange contracts with Ocado

October 2010

IM Properties have exchanged contracts with Ocado Group Plc to sell 35.2 acres of land at Phase 2 of Birch Coppice Business Park, Dordon, North Warwickshire.

The deal is conditional on receipt of detailed planning permission on Ocado’s new 350,000 sq.ft. building. The building is due to be completed in 2012. Commenting on the deal Kevin Ashfield Development Manager of IM Properties said “We are delighted Ocado selected Birch Coppice for their second distribution centre. We knew Ocado were looking at other sites in the region but they selected Birch Coppice due to it’s location and proximity to the Motorway Network and the availability of labour.”

Tim Steiner, Chief Executive Office of Ocado, said “We are delighted to have secured an outstanding site for our second Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC). Ocado is growing rapidly across the country and this location ensures we will have capacity to provide more customers with the leading online grocery offering. Upon completion, the new CFC will create over 2,000 jobs in the region. The Ocado team is looking forward to being a part of the local Dordon and Tamworth communities and becoming a major employer in the region.”

Planning permission was recently obtained for the 100 acre extension to Birch Coppice and infrastructure works are currently being undertaken. These works are due to be completed by April 2011 and buildings will be available from 100,000 - 700,000 sq.ft.
